Flame Glass Studio
Begining-Intermediate Course.
$300 per student, $270 for members!
Learn how to sculpt hard glass, borosilicate, over a torch, making beads, solid sculpture, and small hollowware.  Students will gain all knowledge necessary in the studio to rent the flame glass studio in the future.

Up-Cycling Glass

Hot and Cold Glass Studios
Begining-Intermediate Course.
$300 per student, $270 for members!
Recycle bottle glass with the hot and cold glass studios to make your functional masterpiece!  Learn techniques from heating up bottles and adding bits of colored glass, to cutting glass with wet diamonds.  This class will teach you the fundamentals to make recycles glass for a lifetime and to use each studio.

Blowing Hot Air:  Introduction to Glass blowing

Hot and Cold Glass Studios
Beginning Class
$600 per student, $540 for members!
Discover the tools and techniques of glass blowing!  Class will start with a short introduction to studio safety and demonstration of glass forming methods, then the fun begins.  Students will work in pairs while they learn to manipulate the 2150 degree liquid glass from the furnace into functional glassware.  This course will impart the basic skills needed to confidently explore the medium and feel confident to use the hot glass studio.

Hot Glass Studio
Begining-Intermediate Course.
$600 per student, $540 for members!
Solid Sculpting Course from the furnace to the cold shop.  This is a sculpting course, focusing on reductive and additive sculpture from the furnace, garage, and learn the use oxygen and propane hot torches and specified sculpture tools.    Textures and color techniques will also be focused on for sculpting purposes.  Students should bring in ideas of objects to sculpt from nature or from their sketch book.

Cold Glass Studio
Beginning Course
$300 per student, $270 for members!
This Class will focus on the cold working processes of glass, from cleaning up and finishing work, to creative grinding techniques.  Use of unique tools, from using the lathe with olive, strap, and mitre wheels, and other machines including  flat wheels, belt sanders, and hand grinders.  Specific Czech and American style cold working techniques will be discussed in depth.

Classes at Glass Arts Hawaii Include:

  • The materials fee includes crystal/clear glass, colored glass, tools, and other materials necessary for class.
  • Hot shop classes include furnace glass, annealing, access to hand torches and garage, as well as other special materials.
  • Flame shop classes include 3 hours of flame working during makerspace hours per week while class is in session.
  • Cold shop classes include 3 hours of cold working during makerspace hours per week while class is in session, as well as access to cerium oxide.
